El Grito’s Biggest Event of the Semester: LatinXcellence!

On Thursday, November 30th, at 7 p.m., the Great Hall will hold El Grito’s biggest event of the fall semester, LatinXcellence! This event is a talent show (where Fordham students can submit to perform), where delicious Latin food will be served, and attendees can connect with fellow Latinx students. Excitingly, the show will feature two of Fordham’s amazing performance groups: Candela Latina and Flava!

In 2017, Nicole Sanchez co-founded Candela Latina to create a space for Fordham students to express themselves through Latin dance. At the same time, Latin students can enhance their culture by learning new dances and meeting other students who also share a love for Latin dance. Also, Flava (the only Hip-Hop team at Fordham) is a talented group of dancers and choreographers who work together to create amazing performances for all of Fordham to enjoy. During the fall semester, Flava performs at several campus events and their Fall Caf performance. During the spring semester, they diligently practice to produce their showcase at the end of the semester. Recently, both groups performed with all of Fordham’s major performance groups at Maroon Mainstage and Asili’s Taste the World!

El Grito is so excited to feature these amazing performances at LatinXcellence! Follow @elgritodelares for more information about the upcoming event!
